about

Recorded and mixed winter of 2011 at Jimmy Dog Studios in Charlottesville, VA by Jeff Romano.

"Let Me Fall" (Traditional) We first heard it from the Camp Creek Boys.

"When I Stop Dreaming" (Charlie and Ira Louvin) Ginny Hawker suggested we arrange this Louvin Brothers classic as a duet.

"Black Lung" (A.J. Roach) Coming from an English coal-mining family, Alex has always really enjoyed singing this contemporary coal-mining song.

"My Son Calls Another Man Daddy" (Hank Williams)

"Whose Shoulder Will You Cry On?" (Kitty Wells & Billy Wallace)

"Moonshiner" (Traditional) - This old ballad has roots on both sides of the Atlantic, but Pete first heard it from Bob Dylan.

"Just A Closer Walk With Thee" (Traditional) This hymn is an African-American spiritual often played at New Orleans jazz funerals.

"Black & White Rag" (George Botsford)

"Last Call" (Alex Caton)

Their self-titled debut (2011) features a characteristic mix of fiddle tunes, gospel, country, and folk songs. The two began playing together in fall of 2009 in central Virginia. Winne has since moved to New York, but the duo still performs occasionally. ... more
